Pumps & compressors
Paired angular contacts (70xx/72xx, DB back-to-back or DF face-to-face) give precise preload and two-way axial location, the standard for centrifugal pumps and screw compressors. Cylindrical rollers (NU/NJ) carry the radial load alone so the angular pair handles only thrust; vertical shafts and submersibles use thrust balls (51100/51200). Hot services take C3 clearance and high-temperature grease; corrosive media can be matched with stainless or coated executions.
Typical applications
Typical conditions: Pumps and compressors run fast and continuously with radial and axial forces at the same time: impeller mass and imbalance create constant axial thrust, while coupling misalignment adds radial vibration. Media temperature, corrosion and grease condition all shift the operating clearance, and once vibration rises the seal and impeller soon follow.
